Team Mercury (1089) inspires students to pursue careers in science and technology by creating partnerships with parents, sponsors, and community members. Students will employ teamwork and organizational skills to simulate the environment of a small business with a common goal of designing and building a winning FIRST robot. Through the development and presentation of a FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) competition robot, Team Mercury will engage the community by participating in local outreach events. Lastly, the team will exemplify the spirit of gracious professionalism in its communication with all parties influenced by its projects, and have a blast while doing it! Team Mercury aims to:
-
Provide an exciting and focused environment that encourages students to grow
-
Practice shared leadership towards effectively competing in the FIRST Robotics Program
-
Receive mentorship, volunteering assistance, and fundraising support from parents
-
Identify and develop relationships with sponsors to provide financial support to the team
-
Educate the community about the importance of STEM and its impact on daily life
-
Exemplify the spirit of gracious professionalism at all team meetings, events, and communication between teammates
-
Have fun while learning valuable lessons in responsibility
